Transformation Through Education
Turning an outdated brochure and a plain website into a fundraising story that moves people to give.

TTE raises funds to help students at Namulenga Parish in the Archdiocese of Blantyre attend secondary school. I volunteered to design their donation experience end to end — from the web giving page to the printed pieces handed out at parish events — and to help shape how they showed up on social. This project meant a lot to me: design work that directly helped kids get an education.

Transformation Through Education raises funds so high school students at Namulenga Parish in the Archdiocese of Blantyre, Malawi can attend school — covering tuition, books, supplies, and facilities.
The invitation
A simple ask: can you help?
David Doherty reached out and asked if I'd like to help with this project — and of course I said yes. TTE funds secondary education for students in Malawi, and the chance to put design work behind a cause like that was an easy decision. David had a general idea of what needed to be updated, but not much more than that.
The starting point
An old brochure and an existing website
David handed me the two things TTE already had: the existing website and a tri-fold brochure from 2021. The brochure was full of heart — the mission, the needs, the board of directors — but the design was dated and dense, and the website didn't make the act of giving feel immediate. That was my brief: take these and make them work harder.

Phase one — build the school
First, finish building the school
The very first mockup I made was a donation page with a single goal: raise the money to actually finish building the school. Before anything else, the students in Namulenga needed classrooms — so the page centered on the construction itself, with photo-led storytelling and plain-language progress toward the build. Giving felt tangible: this is the wall your donation lays.

Phase two — sponsor a student
Then, keep them in the classroom
Once the school was built and students were already attending, the mission shifted from construction to continuation. I built a second round of mockups around sponsoring an individual student — $700 covers a full year of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and living expenses. The homepage leads with photo-driven student stories and impact math, and a bold sponsor-a-student banner keeps the action one click away. Same cause, next chapter of the story.

The print system
One story, in the room and in the hand
The brochure, 3-in-1 giving card, and printed donation form reuse the same language, hierarchy, and impact tiers as the website. Volunteers hand these out at parish events, so each piece had to tell the whole story on its own — and feel like part of the same trustworthy family as everything a donor sees online.

Why it matters
Design in service of an education
This project meant a lot to me. The finished web and print tools gave TTE one coherent story to bring to donors — work that directly helps kids in Malawi get tuition, books, and a real shot at an education. It's the kind of design that reminds me why I do this.
